It wouldn’t be Christmastime without taking a moment to help those less fortunate than ourselves, and one of my own favorite charities to support is Child’s Play…
Founded by Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins, the guys who created the immensely popular webcomic Penny Arcade, Child’s Play collects donations of video games, movies, and other forms of entertainment for children’s hospitals around the world to help the kids and their parents during their stay. Since 2003, the charity has donated more than $5 million worth of toys and games to hospitals across North America and this year they’ve expanded even further to include hospitals from other nations as well.
So far in 2009 they’ve already raised a staggering $1.3 million and are just inches away from beating last year’s mark of $1.4 million, so if you’ve got a few extra dollars to spare this holiday season, please do consider clicking the green banner above to visit the Child’s Play site to read more about what they’re all about. Donations can either be made directly via PayPal or you can even select the hospital of your choice and choose specific items that you’d like to donate from an Amazon.com Wishlist that has been setup for each hospital … and really, sometimes that’s the funnest part because you get to pick the games that you enjoy playing yourself!
Nobody likes the idea of having to spend the holidays in the hospital, so help to make their Christmas merry, too, by giving the gift of video games to your local children’s hospital this year because, well, everybody loves Mario – especially sick kids…
